Nice ingredients
We use natural extracts and oils (including native botanicals) to help nourish skin naturally. We don’t use harsh, artificial additives, and we never test on our animal friends. If it’s not nice, it’s a no from us.

What is Nice One by Cotton On Foundation?

When looking to grow the Cotton On Foundation product range, we stayed true to our purpose: Everyday products that make a difference. Nice One by Cotton On Foundation is a range of personal care products for Body, Hair and Baby. Proudly made in Australia with natural oils and extracts. Honest ingredients and formulations crafted to be as gentle on the skin and the planet as possible. No nasties, just nice stuff. Making everyday choices easier, so you don’t have to think twice about doing what’s nice.

And like all Cotton On Foundation products, 100% of proceeds support projects that empower youth to thrive.

Where are the products made?

Our products are made in Australia with love. Developed in partnership with Imaginelle Formulations, a family-owned Australian company that shares our vision of creating meaningful products in the most responsible way.

How are the products made?

Our products are made in small batches in Newcastle, Australia. Formulations are crafted with the cleanest performance in mind, free from any nasties and using naturally-derived ingredients where possible. We use botanical extracts and essential oils (including natives!) to support the performance of the product.

Where do you source the ingredients from?

A big portion of our ingredients come from Australia, and where we can, we source locally as close to the customer as we can get. Our products are manufactured in Australia and most of our packaging and printing is also sourced locally. For example, our bottles are made from post-consumer waste out of our recycling bins in NSW. Nice One repurposes them, giving them a second life.

We support the smaller producers and suppliers too. Our Chamomile and Calendula extracts come from a factory in Byron, and Tasmanian Seaweed comes from a local farm in Tassie. It’s all part of our goal to make everyday choices nicer (and easier) for you.

How do you trace your ingredients?

To help make our range as sustainable as possible, we are committed to plant-derived ingredients rather than petro-sourced ones. Many of the botanical extracts and essential oils we use are sourced locally from native plants. We also use locally sourced clay, and our olive oil is Aussie grown.

What nasties do you take out of the product formulations?

If it’s not nice, it’s a no from us. We don’t use any harsh detergents, preservatives, artificial scents, GMO ingredients, petrochemicals and mineral oils, sulphates and parabens. All of our products are also gluten free and certified PETA-approved vegan, meaning we never test on our animal friends.

What does ‘free from parabens’ mean?

Parabens are a type of preservative commonly used in cosmetics to help stabilise a formula and prevent things like mould and bacteria developing in the bottle. However they can be harsh and a little nasty, which is why our promise is free from parabens.

What are SLS and SLES?

SLS stands for sodium lauryl sulfate. It’s a surfactant that attaches to and removes oil-based dirt, commonly used in shampoos, cleansers and toothpaste. It gives your product that foamy, lathery feel and gives you a super-clean feeling. However some people find it harsh on their hair and skin. So instead, we use more gentle plant-based, sulfate-free surfactants such as the sugurnate in the Nice One Baby range, and natural options like plant-derived coco-glucoside in our shampoos.

Are your products organic?

Where we can source organic ingredients, we do. Many of the ingredients we source are not available with organic certification. That’s why we don’t label our products ‘organic’ but we do use the most natural ingredients to create the right products.

Do you use Palm Oil?

Our suppliers support the production of certified sustainable palm (kernel) oil.

Where possible and available, we choose alternatives to palm oil, including palm free glycerine, coco glucoside from coconut and sugar. For example, our soap bars use coconut and olive oil. It’s more premium and it costs us a little more but it’s the nicer choice.

Is your packaging recycled?

Most of our packaging is recyclable and made with recycled materials. Where we can, we have avoided using virgin plastics.

Our bar boxes are recyclable and made from recycled card. Our tins are made from aluminium and can be reused or recycled.

Our 250ml and 500ml bottles are free from virgin plastic. They’re made from 100% recycled HDPE (high-density polyethylene), which is known for its durability and recyclability. Due to the spring mechanics, the bottle’s pump currently isn’t made with recycled materials and unfortunately can’t be recycled. We are working on alternatives and will provide a recycled solution when it’s possible.

The only other addition that isn’t recycled is any colour additive (typically less than 4%)

How should I recycle the products?

You’ll find instructions on the back or side of the product to help you.

Most of the range can be placed into curbside recycling bins. The bottle pump is the only part of our product range that can’t be recycled. Look out for the APCO recycling symbols on all our packaging. Our goal is to keep packaging materials out of landfill by providing recyclable options where possible.

How can I find out when my product expires?

You can find the best-before date on all Nice One products. Just look on the bottom or side of the packaging. That said, we recommend products are used within one year of opening.

Can the products be used on my whole family?

Absolutely! Our formulations are gentle on skin. We don’t use any harsh soaps, parabens, synthetics, sulfates or dyes, making our products nice for everyone.

Can I use these products if I have sensitive skin?

If you are naturally sensitive or have any existing skin concerns, our Nice One Baby range is a great option for you.

It’s super gentle on skin and, where possible, fragrance free. We recommend doing a small patch test before using any of our products.

What are the benefits of naturally-derived products for babies?

Newborn skin is delicate, so products that include chemicals and fragrances in the ingredients can cause irritation, dryness and rashes. By choosing naturally-derived and gentle ingredients, we take out as much of the nasties as we can.

Our commitment to using plant-powered ingredients means you’re not exposing your little ones to any chemicals and toxins that are sometimes found in standard products.

Did we mention our Nice One Baby Oil can help with their overall wellbeing too? Research shows that physical touch triggers hormones, boosts immunity and helps fight off any nasties. Massaging your baby’s skin can help make them calmer, sleep better and cry less. How nice!

Do you test on animals?

Never. Our products are certified PETA and vegan-friendly, meaning we don’t use any animal byproducts either. Our products are tested by third-party laboratories and through trial and review processes.

We audit our supply chain and our products and raw ingredients have not been tested on animals. We have the Peta certification to support this.

Can I return my order?

Unfortunately, once opened, Nice One products cannot be returned unless there is fault with the product, or in compliance with the Australian consumer Law.

We welcome any feedback on the performance and quality of the products and will do everything to improve your experience, so if there is any feedback please share this with us.

My product is faulty. What can I do?

You can return your faulty product to any Cotton On store for a refund or exchange. Find your local store here.

Will the products go on sale?

Cotton On Foundation products are not eligible for promotion or discount unless specifically marked. When you purchase Nice One, you’re giving back! 100% of proceeds support projects that empower youth to thrive.
