Prepare your house tip to toe before little bub arrives so the transition is as easy as can be!
Check out our tips on how to prepare the house for a newborn below -->
1. Give the house a big spring clean - skirting boards, vents, windows, grout etc
these things won't be done again anytime soon while you've got a newborn!
2. Stock up the fridge, freezer and cupboard with pre made or easy to pull
together healthy snacks - especially if you're breastfeeding as you'll be hungry!
You'll also want to keep super hydrated so keep an extra water bottle handy.
3. Get your pets organised. If there will be any changes to their sleeping or
living arrangements when the baby comes home, be sure to make these
changes ahead of time so they don't feel like baby
has kicked them out of the pack/family.
4. Wash the babies clothes, blankets and bedding.
5. Have a support network ready! There will alway be things you need that you
weren't prepared for. Different size nappies, different size clothes, an extra
blanket to replace the two that have been spewed on! Have some one that's
a phone call away that can grab one or two things from the supermarket so
you and/or your parent can stay at home in your love bubble.
6. Do up a sign for your front door. Let people know that this is a special time
for you and as much as you'd like to share it with visitors 'pop by's' aren't
always ideal. Don't be afraid to place a sign on your door asking people
to call before popping by, not knocking etc so they don't wake the baby.
7. Don't stress! There'll be things you forget, and moments where you
don't know what you're doing and that's okay! Just give some one for
your personal support network a call or call your midwife/doctor/alternate support person.
