T-shirts and tank tops are like two best friends who show up for different adventures. A T-shirt is the everyday hero: short sleeves, comfy crew or scoop neck, and plenty of coverage for school, playdates, and sun-safe days. It's the go-to layer under a denim jacket, the team player with leggings or jeans , and the canvas for all her favorite graphics. Reach for a T-shirt when she needs a little more coverage, when the classroom heating is chilly, or when she wants that classic, easy look that works with everything.
Tank tops are the breezy sidekick. Sleeveless and light, they're perfect for warm weather, beach days and garden fun where every sprinkler splash counts. Tanks give shoulders room to move, make layering feel effortless, and bring extra airflow on hot afternoons. They shine under dungarees, tucked into skirts, or paired with shorts for a quick “out-the-door” outfit she can conquer the day in. A thicker strap tank can be school-friendly in some dress codes, while a skinny strap tank is made for summer adventures and weekend play.
When to pick which? Let the day (and the kid) decide. If the forecast says sunshine and cartwheels, a tank top keeps her cool. If the plan involves classrooms, road trips or cooler evenings, a T-shirt is the cozy, all-round choice. And when the weather can't make up its mind, a tank under a long sleeve top or zip hoodie gives you layering magic without the fuss. With Cotton On Kids, you don't have to choose a favourite—build a little lineup of both so she's ready for any plot twist the day throws in.
Short answer: With a little TLC, a graphic print should outlast the growth spurts. Our kids' T-shirts are designed for real life—think dress-ups, snack time drips and a dozen “just one more” playground slides—and the prints are built to hang in there. Most families will find the tee is passed down or recycled long before the artwork gives up.
To help your print stay bright and happy, treat it kindly in the wash. Turn the T-shirt inside out, use cold water and a gentle cycle, and skip the harsh stuff like bleach. Line dry in the shade where you can; High heat can be tough on any print, from classic screen prints to puff, foil or glitter finishes. If ironing is needed, flip the tee inside out and avoid pressing directly on the artwork. Backpacks and rough surfaces can rub prints over time, so a little care goes a long way—especially with specialty finishes that are extra fun but prefer soft landings.
How many washes are “many”? Every family's laundry routine is different, but under normal, kid-life wear and care, you can expect dozens of washes with the colors and details and strong holding. Water-based and high-quality screen prints age gently, softening with the fabric rather than cracking; Heat and over-drying are the main culprits that can speed up fading or cracking. The happy truth is that kids usually size up long before the print slows down, which means more stories left in the tee when it's time to share it with a sibling, friend or donation box.
If something wild happens—paint party meets chocolate fountain—we get it. Life with kids is delightfully messy, and we're here for it. Spot treat the area gently, avoid scrubbing the print, and wash as soon as you can. Your girl gets to be the hero of her day, and her T-shirt should be the trusty sidekick that's ready for round two (and three, and four).
From classic T-shirts to breezy tanks and cozy long sleeve favourites, Cotton On Kids has its top drawer sorted with soft, comfy pieces made for big feelings, big fun and even bigger imaginations. Dress her in joy, let her choose the adventure, and we'll take care of the comfy, colorful part.
